Phil was a good friend. We had known each other since the late eighties when we started our graded courses to become an athletic coach
I guess then we had not realised how much time athletics would demand of our time for it was not too long ago when Phil retired from our beloved club
However it was very evident that he loved working with his athletes and his genuine care and unconditional support was felt and loved by every athlete under his wing.He was infact loved and respected by all that came in contact with him
We would travel many journeys competing, some very long, particulary when we travelled down to South Wales.I remember on the way home, after visiting the pub of course,Phil would always arrange a sing song back on the coach. He loved a karaoke which probably accounted for it but yes it was great fun and the journey passed much quicker
Phil and I,having retired from work played a lot of golf together, they were happy times, plenty of banter putting things right, sharing many a laugh and tale and of course football(his beloved Liverpool)
Phil I miss you ,you had an ability to connect with people. I will carry you in my heart forever, happy for the time I spent with you
Rest in peace Phil you will be sadly missed by many but never forgotten
Philip
